The Compensatory Afforestation Fund Bill, approved Union Cabinet on 29 April 2015.
The Cabinet gave approval to the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Bill that will create an “appropriate institutional mechanism, both at the Centre and the states” to utilise these Compensatory Afforestation funds for afforestation, and other purposes that would mitigate the effects of diversion of forest land.
